We all once had natural hair at some point in our childhood. Some of us were relaxed at a young age by
our mothers, while some of us styled our own hair by relaxing it, and others had their natural curls but damaged them with chemical or by using heat. Have you thought about returning back to your natural curls? It might have crossed your mind once or twice, maybe you thought it would be too much work or that you just wouldn't know what to do with your natural hair.
Let me tell you returning back to my natural curls was the best decision I could have ever made for my hair. A little history on my hair: I was completely natural until I was 11 years old in 6th grade I never wore my curls. I would blow out my hair and wear it out or but it in a bun or a ponytail. I begged my mom to let me get my hair relaxed because doing my hair was too much maintenance for me. At this point in time I've been doing my hair since 5th grade. When I got to 6th grade I started running track and my hair could not take the humidity and sweat I was exposing it to 4 days a week.
Fast forward to my senior year of high school I was 6 years relaxed and my hair has been cut several times and dyed twice. My hair was not damaged it was just thinning and the ends due to me straightening my hair everyday. My best friend was already natural she never had a her permed. I wondered how I could get my hair like that. I then began to research many different ways to have natural hair and what steps that I needed to take.
I had many set back when it came to returning back to my natural hair I dyed my hair and continued using heat on my hair which continued to damage my hair. A few months after graduating high school I decided to go back to my natural hair journey. I wanted a fresh start and wasn't too attached to my hair so after a month of letting my hair grow a little I had my mom cut off all of my straight relaxed ends and was left with 2 inches of hair. I honestly felt liberated and my hair has begun to flourish. I am currently 5 months natural and My hair and I have grown so much. I hope to encourage you with your natural hair journey and also help you along with your journey. We're in this together- Mhadrja XOXO
